 Current Plan

Just to make sure I don't forget what's going on between now and when next we play.

The tracks we're currently following have lead us through the tunnel with the posion floor, ceiling, and walls and with an anti-magic trap in the middle. This means to me that the clown we're pursuing has either made it past that, the mind-flayers, the hell hounds, the drider, the door, the scorpions, and the chuul alive (although his 2 companions presumably didn't) by being a bad-ass, or because those things work for him somehow (making him a bad-ass), or avoiding all of their detection and affects (also making him a bad-ass). We believe him to have Mournbringer which is why we're chasing him (plus whatever is in the titan's tomb), and we can probably assume that he isn't going to just hand it over to us when we show up.

I think we need to try to figure out how he got past everything. This will help us learn a little more about him and figure out a plan that will help us face him. Those who keep notes will want to contribute to this a lot I hope. :D

The bit with him going up through the door implies to me that he is: a) a spell-caster with fly, or b) he has magic devices that let him fly, or c) he got up there a different way (i.e. spider climb but not that since he still had his boots on when he went up the door). I think it's c because the footsteps didn't break stride until he hit the door. I think if he'd flown up the foot steps would have ended well in front of the door and there wouldn't have been marks from someone jumping down (probably feather-fell to prevent damage). That he got past the Chuul implies he is a) as stealthy as Poyallup and Elec, or b) he had some kind of invisibility. I can't really think of much to do with that *. The posion trap shows me he either a) has a kick-ass fort save, or b) just flew through and got lucky (not real productive to consider), or c) had some way to compensate for the trap (maybe a feather fall then a fly after he coasted out of the field, but before he hit the ground). I'm thinking this guy is either a spell-caster (I'd guess sorcerer) or is a rogue pretty tricked-out with magic items. What do other people think?

Alternate theory. Are there such things as vampire Drow? This thing likely spider-climbed the door (vampires get that for free, right?), jumped down (would have taken a lot of damage that vampires would regenerate, but could have feather-fell), and then walked through a posion lined hall (undead are immune to posion aren't they?). Maybe some other kind of undead. A lich maybe. That could be why that book is in the dungeon somewhere -- Oliver thinks we'll need it if he drains too many levels off someone. Like he had the resurrection shrine thing in Larnac's dungeon in case someone died. Thoughts?

* Darren -- we did have to go that close to the water. Poyallup was following the tracks. We went where they did.

Interesting it may be, but no one seems too interested in discussing it.
